GeoTest — FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Fifteen answers about GEO Scores, GeoTest scans, and how AI engines cite your site.

Q1. What is a GEO Score?

A GEO Score is a 0–100 rating of how well your website is understood and cited by AI answer engines. GeoTest calculates it across six weighted categories: Content Quality & Depth (25), Citation Worthiness (20), Structured Data & Schema (18), Authority Signals & E-E-A-T (17), FAQ & Knowledge Base (12), and AI Crawler Access (8). Sites scoring 80+ are reliably cited; sites under 50 are usually invisible to generative engines.

Q2. How long does a GeoTest scan take?

A free Quick Scan analyzes the single URL you submit. A Pro Site Analysis crawls your site and analyzes up to 200 pages — larger sites are sampled — and runs live AI citation tests.

Q3. Is GeoTest free?

Yes — the free Quick Scan is open to everyone, one test per URL per day. Create a free account to see your full score and history. Paid plans start at Starter $49/mo (10 reports), Agency Pro $149/mo (50 reports, white-label), and Agency Scale $299/mo (unlimited, API).

Q4. Which AI engines does GeoTest test against?

GeoTest runs live citation tests against Perplexity (sonar-pro model) and scores your site against the signal patterns used by ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Claude, and Gemini.

Q5. How quickly will my GEO Score improve after applying fixes?

It depends on the fix and how fast AI engines re-index your site. Quick technical wins (schema, meta) can register within days; content and authority improvements take longer.

Q6. How is GeoTest different from traditional SEO tools?

Traditional SEO optimizes for keyword rankings and backlinks in classic search. GeoTest optimizes for how AI engines read, trust, and cite your content — schema completeness, factual density, definition clarity, and live citation rates. And unlike AI-visibility monitors that only measure, GeoTest hands you the exact fixes to raise your score: test, fix, retest.

Q7. What's the difference between a Quick Scan and a Pro Site Analysis?

A Quick Scan checks the single URL you submit and returns your score, a category breakdown, your top 3 critical issues, and a Start-Here fix list. A Pro Site Analysis crawls your site and analyzes up to 200 pages (larger sites are sampled), runs live Perplexity citation tests, generates ready-to-paste schema and FAQs, and ships a branded PDF report.

Q8. Do I need to install anything or add a tracking code?

No. GeoTest analyzes your public pages directly — just paste your URL. There's nothing to install and no code to add to your site.

Q9. What do I actually get that I can act on?

Beyond the score, you get ready-to-paste fixes: JSON-LD schema generated from your own site data (with the source of every value shown), specific content and structure recommendations, and — on Pro — a copy/paste rewrite factory and AI-generated FAQs. You fix, then retest to confirm the lift.

Q10. How often should I retest?

AI engines update continuously, so scores drift over time. We recommend retesting monthly, and after any significant content or structure change, to confirm improvements hold and catch new gaps.

Q11. Can agencies use GeoTest for multiple clients?

Yes. Agency Pro ($149/mo) includes 50 reports, white-label reporting, a dashboard, and score tracking; Agency Scale ($299/mo) adds unlimited reports, API access, and bulk imports — built for running many client sites from one account.

Q12. My site scores well technically but has 0% AI citation — why?

Technical structure and real-world citation are two different things. A site can be perfectly structured (high schema/technical score) yet not yet cited by AI, because citation also depends on authority, entity presence, and being referenced across the web — which build over time. The score tells you your foundation is ready; citation follows as authority grows.

Q13. Do you offer done-for-you fixes if I don't want to do the work myself?

Yes — through our parent company SpecLoop. If you'd rather have it handled, SpecLoop delivers a full done-for-you remediation across all six scoring categories, then retests it in GeoTest. Contact us to get started.

Q14. Is my data private? What do you do with the sites I scan?

We don't share your data. The sites you scan are analyzed to generate your report and are not sold or shared with third parties.

Q15. What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?

GEO is the practice of structuring a website so generative AI engines can read, trust, and cite its content inside their answers. It's to AI answers what SEO is to blue-link search. As users increasingly get answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Mode instead of ten links, being the cited source — not just ranking — is what wins traffic.
